Mediconsult Engages in Dialogue in Sweden on Social Care and Home Care Solutions

Written by Mediconsult | 16.4.2026

.Mediconsult is engaging in dialogue with organisations in Sweden, where there is interest in digital social care case management systems and solutions supporting home care services.

For 50 years, Mediconsult has remained a top actor in the Finnish health and social care IT sector. In this decade, Finnish wellbeing services counties have harmonized and improved their practices and client processes due to the recent reforms in social care data management in Finland and the EU.  These changes have also required improvement of social care case management systems to meet the new requirements and support daily work.

An important part of the discussion relates to Mediconsult’s actions and plans to use artificial intelligence as practical support for professionals. AI is developed to assist daily work tasks, while responsibility, professional judgement and decision‑making always remain with the practitioner. In elderly care and home care services, the use of AI helps reduce the time spent on manual documentation. This allows professionals to focus more on the client, while documentation is structured accurately in the background.

In child protection, Mediconsult has integrated an AI‑supported tool directly into the Saga social care case management system. The tool supports the processing of child protection referrals by creating structured service needs assessments in line with legal requirements. It helps professionals start assessments without delay, while all final decisions are made by the responsible social worker.

Across all use cases, Mediconsult emphasises that AI is designed to support, not replace, professional expertise. AI functions are built into existing workflows and developed in close cooperation with customers, with careful attention to ethics, data protection and regulatory requirements.

The interest from Sweden reflects shared Nordic challenges, such as demographic change, growing demand for home‑based services and the need for digital tools that support high‑quality, efficient and client‑centred social care.
